Travel Tips / Getting Here

Rancho Las Maravillas · Sultepec, State of Mexico

Rancho Las Maravillas is located in Sultepec, in a beautiful rural mountain setting. The drive from Mexico City typically takes around 3.5 hours or more, depending on traffic, weather, and road conditions.

We want you to arrive safely and comfortably. Please read the travel information below before making your arrangements, especially if this is your first visit to Mexico.

Plan Your Journey: Prepare for Limited Cell Service

Mobile phone reception and data coverage can be intermittent along the route, and you will lose service well before reaching the ranch. Before leaving Mexico City or Toluca, please:

  • Download the area in Google Maps for offline navigation.
  • Save the location and exact entrance coordinates on your phone: 18°52'05.7"N 99°59'00.9"W.
  • Take screenshots of the route or print a physical copy of this guide.
  • Make sure your phone is fully charged, and bring a car charger or power bank.
  • Review the directions before starting your drive. Please do not assume you will have internet access or phone signal along the way.

Transportation Options

Renting a Car at the Airport

Renting a car at Mexico City International Airport is possible, but driving in Mexico City can be challenging for visitors unfamiliar with its size, heavy traffic, and busy roadways.

The final route to Rancho Las Maravillas is a winding, single-lane mountain road with many curves and no mobile coverage for most of the stretch. If you are comfortable driving in these conditions and have experience navigating mountain roads, renting a car is an option, but it is not what we recommend for everyone.

Recommended Local Transportation (Vitaneuve)

Independent provider

For participants traveling from other parts of Mexico or abroad, or for those who prefer not to drive on mountain roads, we recommend hiring the private transportation service of Vitaneuve, a trusted local provider:

Where to Stay in Mexico City

If you decide to use the recommended transportation service, there are typically two departure points in Mexico City:

1. Auditorio Nacional

Recommended areas: Reforma, Polanco, Condesa, and Roma.

2. Estadio Olímpico Universitario

Recommended southern areas: Coyoacán, San Ángel, Ciudad Universitaria, and Tlalpan.

Mexico City is very large and travel times vary considerably depending on traffic. We recommend booking accommodation close to your agreed departure point after confirming details with your transportation provider.

Out-of-State and International Guests

If you are flying into Mexico City, we strongly recommend booking your flights to Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX / AICM). Please avoid booking flights to Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA / NLU), as it is located much farther away and will complicate your onward travel to Sultepec.
